A note on a simplified and general approach to simulating from multivariate copula functions

چکیده
Copulas have become an important analytic tool for characterizing multivariate distributions and dependence. One is often interested in simulating data from copula estimates. The process can be analytically and computationally complex and usually involves steps that are unique to a given parametric copula. We describe an alternative approach that uses ‘Probability-Proportional-to-Size’ random sampling with weights formed from the copula likelihood function. The method is flexible and can be applied to parametric and nonparametric marginal density estimates. The precision of the simulation can be calibrated by adjusting the density of themultidimensional grid used in the simulation process. The approach is fully transparent to any copula function with continuous random variables. An example evaluates a number of goodness-of-fit criteria and provides strong support for the validity and practicality of the method.

A note on "Generalized bivariate copulas and their properties"
In 2004, Rodr'{i}guez-Lallena and '{U}beda-Flores have introduced a class of bivariate copulas which generalizes some known families such as the Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern distributions. In 2006, Dolati and '{U}beda-Flores presented multivariate generalizations of this class. Then in 2011, Kim et al. generalized Rodr'{i}guez-Lallena and '{U}beda-Flores' study to any given copula family. But ther...

One approach for constructing copula functions is by multiplication. Given that products of cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) are also CDFs, an adjustment to this multiplication will result in a copula model, as discussed by Liebscher (J Mult Analysis, 2008). Parameterizing models via products of CDFs has some advantages, both from the copula perspective (e.g., it is well-defined for any...
متن کاملDynamic Cross Hedging Effectiveness between Gold and Stock Market Based on Downside Risk Measures: Evidence from Iran Emerging Capital Market
This paper examines the hedging effectiveness of gold futures for the stock market in minimizing variance and downside risks, including value at risk and expected shortfall using data from the Iran emerging capital market during four different sub-periods from December 2008 to August 2018. We employ dynamic conditional correlation models including VARMA-BGARCH (DCC, ADCC, BEKK, and ABEKK) and c...
متن کاملModeling the Dependency Structure between Stocks of Chemical Products Return, Oil Price and Exchange Rate Growth in Iran; an Application of Vine Copula
The main objective of this study is modeling the dependency structure between the returns of oil markets, exchange rate and stocks of chemical products in Iran. For this purpose, the theory of Vine Copula functions is used to investigate the dependency structure. In addition to consider a linear relationship between financial markets in Iran, the nonlinear dependency structure of these markets ...
